Five Minutes With: Indie Pop Band Baby Jey

Fronted by lead singer and songwriter Jeremy Witten, Baby Jey has graced stages across Canada and the United States, sharing platforms with notable acts like Michael Rault (NYC, November 2017), Jessica Jalbert of Faith Healer (Edmonton, May 2018), and Berlin indie rock band Fenster (Philadelphia, November 2018). In August 2019, Baby Jey embarked on the “Lil Alberta Tour,” touring their home province alongside Calgary bands like Stripmall and Lethbridge bands such as Ghost Woman.

The sophomore album, “Someday Cowboy,” by Baby Jey garnered attention from Exclaim!, Earmilk, and Indie88, with coverage in New York City’s Deli Mag, the Edmonton Journal, Obscure Sound, BeatRoute Magazine, Vue Weekly, and various other publications. Achieving #1 on college radio stations in both Canada and the United States, “Someday Cowboy” also secured a spot on the NACC Top 100 (North American College & Community Radio Chart). The album’s lead single, “Someday My Space Cowboy Will Come,” earned placements on several playlists, including Spotify’s editorial playlist Outliers. Following this success, the band released their follow-up, “Crop Circles,” in November 2023.
