About Tyler Dixon
Tyler is originally from Saskatchewan, and yes he cheers for the Roughriders, but don’t hold that against him as Calgary has been his home for the past eight years. He is a teacher working at a wilderness- based treatment program for youth working to overcome addiction. Tyler is also a volunteer with the GOT Parks initiative, which aims at reconnecting Canada’s youth with our national, provincial, and territorial parks. During his time away from work, Tyler enjoys outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, and snowboarding, team sports, travelling, photography, spending time with good friends, and being at home with his wife and German Shepherd, Rome.

There is evidence to suggest that skis were being used in what is now Banff National Park as far back as the 1880s. Sunshine Village, one of the premiere winter resorts in western Canada, got […]

Fat Biking at Chinook Blast

January 14, 2023 Tyler Dixon

For a long time I was a strong proponent of letting the seasons dictate which sports I took part in. When that first big dump of snow blanketed the Rockies, the mountain bike got put […]

December 23, 2022 Tyler Dixon

Just because the weather is colder and the lakes are frozen, doesn’t mean your fishing season has to come to an end. You’ll just need to adjust your approach before hitting the hard water. Ice […]

Wild Jobs: Warden Service Dog Handler

December 12, 2022 Tyler Dixon

Back in early 2015, before the Wild Jobs concept was even an idea, I wrote a story called Rescue Dogs: More Than Man’s Best Friend where I detailed the work of avalanche rescue dogs. For […]
