Tula began her artistic journey at the age of six while living in South America, where her early connection to creativity first took root. After returning to Calgary, she enrolled in programs at Storybook Theatre, where she discovered a deep love for performance and collaboration. Her breakout role as Zuzu Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life marked the beginning of a growing presence on stage.
Since then, Tula has continued to evolve as a multidimensional artist, developing her skills as an actor, dancer, and singer. She has performed with various theatre companies across Calgary, bringing a grounded presence and natural expressiveness to each role. Currently, she is training with Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, further refining her craft through disciplined movement and musicality.
Tula is known for her dedication, energy, and collaborative spirit. She approaches each project with intention, valuing both the creative process and the people she works alongside.
The performing arts are at the centre of her life. Her work is rooted in authenticity, and she remains committed to contributing meaningfully to the artistic community she continues to grow within.

Which ‘hood are you in?
I’m an inner-city girl currently residing in Richmond
What do you do?
I wear many different hats. I’ve been doing theatre for over a decade, starting at age 5 when I performed in my first musical while living in Montevideo, Uruguay. Ever since returning to Canada at age six, I’ve been performing non-stop. I was part of the first-ever Spotlight program at StoryBook Theatre in 2013, and have participated on and off-stage in SBT productions since 2017, including Bridge to Terabithia, The Theory of Relativity, Legally Blonde, Newsies, Chicago, Miracle on 34th Street, and now, Shrek.
At the moment, I’m a dance student in the Professional Training Program at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks and a vocal student preparing for the Calgary Vocal Festival. I work as a singer for Upscale Entertainment, performing in the Revolución and Ultraviolet party band in and around Calgary. I also work in hospitality, sales, and marketing. I consider myself a lifelong student, always searching to learn new things and expand my knowledge and skillset.
What are you currently working on?
A lot of things. I’m dancing five days a week, and I’ve recently auditioned for DJD’s company and Professional Training Program, and Calgary Opera’s upcoming season. I’m the Makeup Assistant for StoryBook Theatre’s upcoming production of Shrek. I’m in the very early stages of creating original dance pieces with a focus on Cuban music and history, tying in elements of my ancestry and identity. I’m also in the process of researching schools to pursue a bachelor’s degree in performance in the next few years; will it be in music, dance, theatre, or something completely different?? We shall see.
Where can we find your work?
You can find me on Instagram! I post lots of singing and dancing there, and I also have a website specifically dedicated to my artistic endeavours.
