Five Minutes With: Calgary Indie-Folk Band The Sour Patch Men

Calgary’s indie-folk outfit The Sour Patch Men blends sharp modern songwriting with the warmth of traditional arrangements, creating a sound that feels both timeless and daring. Beloved for their disarming stage presence, quick wit, and high-voltage energy, the band has carved out a reputation as fearless innovators in the folk and bluegrass scene. Their latest record, The Second Best Band in Bowness, pushes the boundaries of modern bluegrass with unflinching creativity. Their earlier EPs, Pucker (2024) and Danger, Do Not Operate (2024), both climbed to #5 on the !earshot National Folk/Roots Chart, earning them recognition on campus and community radio stations across Canada.
