Hip Hip Thursday formed organically as a cooperative of six musicians who met at the weekly jams. The resulting project maintained the collaborative energy that brought them together – a fusion of genres that created a unique soundscape.
Hip Hip Thursday works to honour the traditions of jazz and hip-hop, while charting new creative territories with influences of funk, indie, and rock. HHT’s music is not just about sound but about storytelling, emotion, and connection to important events and realities of the world around us.
Hip Hip has had the honour of playing numerous shows in the prairies, Calgary’s Sled Island Festival, East Town Get Down, the King Eddy CIBC Summer series, Calgary Music’s SoundOff Summit Showcase, featured on CBC Radio 1 Calgary’s Eye Opener, Arts Commons TD Incubator program, the Calgary International Film Festival block party, along with several shows across the prairies.
