About Tyler Dixon
Tyler is originally from Saskatchewan, and yes he cheers for the Roughriders, but don’t hold that against him as Calgary has been his home for the past eight years. He is a teacher working at a wilderness- based treatment program for youth working to overcome addiction. Tyler is also a volunteer with the GOT Parks initiative, which aims at reconnecting Canada’s youth with our national, provincial, and territorial parks. During his time away from work, Tyler enjoys outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, and snowboarding, team sports, travelling, photography, spending time with good friends, and being at home with his wife and German Shepherd, Rome.

The Colourful History of Fort Walsh in the Cypress Hills

April 5, 2019 Tyler Dixon

If you haven’t realized it by now I enjoy exploring old frontier forts that are scattered across western Canada. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Fort Whoop-Up in Lethbridge, Fort Normandeau near Red Deer, and Fort Calgary in its namesake […]

Historical Photos from Drumheller and the Badlands

March 28, 2019 Tyler Dixon

The Okotoks Erratic: The Rock That Ran

March 22, 2019 Tyler Dixon

In an otherwise feature-less field, just south of Calgary’s sprawling metropolis, sits an object so out of place from the rest of its surroundings it’s almost as though it was dropped from the sky. The […]
