A two-time YYC Music Award recipient, Zaire’s artistry bridges the worlds of poetry and rap, shaped by his background in spoken word and youth mentorship.
As co-founder of the artist collective Two World Creatives, he’s released two EPs (Wait and Molded). Now, his debut solo project, When You Meet Yourself, traces a 10-track journey from mental health struggles, suicidal ideation, and substance abuse toward faith, healing, and transformation.
Rooted in faith and lived experience, Zaire continues to invite audiences into honest reflection through his music, workshops, and performances across Western Canada and beyond.

EP or LP?
LP. To me, an EP is a snapshot, but an LP is a world. It gives an artist the space to fully explore an idea through the lyrics, production, and sequencing in a way that stays with you long after it’s over.
Early bird or night owl?
Night owl, if I have to choose. But as far as I’m concerned, no one should ever have to wake up too early or go to bed too late.
Road or studio?
Studio. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing quite like connecting with a live audience that genuinely appreciates your music. But I love the process of taking an idea and shaping it into something that moves me before anyone else ever hears it.

I’m currently rolling out my debut album, When You Meet Yourself, one song each month leading up to its full release this November. What is your favourite local restaurant?
Klein/Harris. My wife and I first went to this restaurant several years ago and immediately fell in love with the ambiance, outstanding service and incredible food. It has remained one of our go-to spots for celebrating special occasions.
What is your favourite street in your city and why?
Stephen Avenue. I love the historic architecture along with the mix of great restaurants and local businesses. It also has an energy that reminds me of downtown Montreal, where I was born and raised, so walking there always feels both exciting and familiar.
What is your favourite park in your city and why?
Prince’s Island Park. Whether you’re taking a walk, sitting by the Bow River or stumbling across live music, theatre or local arts, there always seems to be something happening. It’s one of those places where every visit feels a little different, and it’s a great place to slow down in the heart of Calgary.
What is your favourite music venue in your city?
The Palace Theatre. I had the opportunity to perform there the same night I received my first YYC Music Award, so it’ll always hold a special place in my heart. It’s a beautifully constructed venue, and it created one of the most memorable nights of my music career.
What is your favourite music store in your city?
In all honesty, I don’t really have a favourite music store. Most of my music discovery happens online these days, so I haven’t spent much time exploring local record shops.
