Five Minutes With: Pop/Melodic Rap Musician Kam Prada

When you think of Calgary, you think of the mountains, snow, oil, and the prairies. Its charm is generally conducive to more reserved, conventional lives. Conversely, Indo-Canadian artist Kam Prada chose a more rambunctious path. The Canadian singer-songwriter took the unexpected route, going against traditional cultural and societal norms. Being of Indian descent and cultivating a career in the arts is important to Kam, as Indian people are drastically underrepresented and sometimes driven away from the arts and mainstream music and media for more traditional career paths.

Kam grew up playing soccer, but towards his latter years of high school, he quickly developed a passion for music. His music ranges from encapsulating heartbreak ballads to energetic, melodic, pop-rap hits. He creates relatable soundscapes punctuated by pop ambition, melody-rich hip-hop, punk rock spirit, and even a hint of country. Kam draws inspiration from a diverse array of artists, including The Kid Laroi, iann dior, Juice WRLD, Post Malone, Saint Jhn, and fellow Calgary native, Tate McRae.

With notable live performance experience, opening for the likes of Lil Tecca, Big Sean, T.I., Bryce Vine, Ludacris, and more, over 30 million combined streams, recognition as a top 10 finalist in CBC’s Searchlight competition, and press coverage from TheHypeMagazine, HipHopDX, CBC, CTV News, and more, the future is very promising for this Canadian youngster.
