Sarah Martin is a Canadian artist known for reimaging familiar landscapes into contemporary reflections on memory and place. Mixing paint, photography, and pattern, she builds layered compositions that feel both timeless and alive.
Rooted in the landscapes of her childhood, Sarah’s art transforms familiar Canadian scenes into dreamlike portals. Her signature use of soft pastels, playful polka dots, and 3-dimensional paint textures gives her pieces a rhythm that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly modern. Drawing from archival photographs, she bridges the past and present, inviting viewers to step into the spaces she re-creates and reflect on their own sense of belonging.
Her artwork has been featured in Style at Home, Canadian House & Home, and on several HGTV design shows. Sarah’s paintings are held in public and private collections across North America, including the Ontario Archives, Sunshine Resort in Banff, The Hythe Resort in Vail, and the Hard Rock Hotel in Atlanta.

Which ’hood are you in?
My art galleries are in Fernie, Banff and Whistler. I live in the suburbs in Ontario, with a studio nestled in the forest as my backdrop.
What do you do?
I am a full-time visual artist with gallery representation for over 25 years. My art combines vintage images of Canadian landscapes and contemporary painting. It’s a mixed media approach merging the old and new.
What are you currently working on?
In my new series, I am deconstructing vintage images, cutting them and repositioning them together. It’s a deconstruction, reconstruction process. This series is less about literal locations and more about the essence of Canada’s land and the emotions we have connected to it.
