“Five Minutes With” Graham Harris from Hammerdrone

Hammerdrone has been an anchor in the Canadian underground metal community for just shy of a decade. Over this time, they have developed a face-melting brand of old school melodic death metal, at once aggressive and mellifluous.  No clean singing.  No symphonics.  Combining intense aggression, dark atmosphere and elegant melodies, Hammerdrone’s powerfully intense live show is a “once seen, never forgotten” experience.

The band is Graham Harris – Vocals | Teran Wyer – Bass | Curtis Beardy – Guitar | Rick Cardellini – Lead Guitar | Vinnie Cardellini – Drums.

Favourite Local Restaurant:

De Thai.

Favourite band as a teenager:

Iron Maiden.

Favourite band now:

Be’lakor.

Guilty Pleasure Song:

I have no songs for which I feel guilty enjoying! All music is awesome!

Live Show Ritual:

Stretch lots, then do some press-ups!

Favourite local artist:

Ye Goat Herd Gods – awesome song-writing and great guitar solos. A massively under-rated local band.

Nose Hill or Fish Creek??

Nose Hill. The view and the wildness is unbeatable.

EP or LP?

I’ll always pick an LP for a fully immersive listening experience, although EPs have their place, too.

Early bird or night owl?

Early… I have a 4-year-old, so I have no choice.

Road or studio?

It’s a toss-up: I love playing live for the energy, but the studio experience of recording is very satisfying – and lasts much longer!

Any shows or albums coming up?

Yes, we headline Friday night of Decimate Metalfest on July 5th (!), here in Calgary. After that, we will begin recording our latest EP, which we hope (fingers crossed) will be ready for release by the end of this year.
