We spoke with Amrit and Kaylee, co-founders of Rest Easy Rentals, to learn how their own love of camping and the challenges of storing gear in a small apartment, inspired them to create a business that makes outdoor adventures simple, convenient, and stress-free.
What is your business called and what does it do?
Our business is called Rest Easy Rentals. We specialize in renting out high-quality camping equipment, including tents, stoves, coolers, and more. What sets us apart is that we offer free delivery right to our customers’ doors, making camping more accessible and hassle-free.
What made you want to do this work?
Kaylee and I have always loved camping, but when we lived in a small apartment, we struggled with storing all the necessary gear. We realized that many other people in apartments, condos, or smaller homes might face the same issue. That’s what inspired us to start Rest Easy Rentals—to make camping more convenient for everyone.
What problem did you want to solve with the business?
We wanted to eliminate the hassle of owning and storing bulky camping gear. Many people love the idea of camping but don’t want to invest in expensive equipment they’ll only use a few times a year. By providing high-quality rentals with free delivery, we make camping more accessible, affordable, and stress-free.
Who are your clientele/demographics?
Our customers range from first-time campers to experienced outdoor enthusiasts who don’t want the hassle of packing and storing gear. We serve young professionals, families, tourists visiting the Rockies, and even locals who just want to try out camping without committing to buying equipment.
How does your business make money? How does it work?
We offer a simple and convenient rental system. Customers browse our gear online, select the items they need, and choose their rental dates. We then deliver the equipment to their door (for free!), and once their trip is over, they return it to our downtown Calgary location. We charge per rental period, making it a flexible and cost-effective option for campers.
If customers prefer, we can also pick up the equipment from them once they are done for an additional fee. This adds even more convenience, especially for those returning from a long trip.
Where in the city can we find your profession?
Our pickup location is in downtown Calgary, but our service extends beyond that because we deliver directly to our customers’ homes.

The best part is seeing people get excited about their camping trips, knowing that we’ve made their adventure easier and more accessible. The worst part? Sometimes dealing with lost or damaged gear can be frustrating, but we always try to make it a learning experience.
What is your favourite joke about your own profession?
Why did the camper bring a ladder? Because they heard the best views were at the top!
