Quest World Family Entertainment

What is your business called and what does it do?

Quest World Family Entertainment is a Calgary-based, family-run business created by a local family who wanted to build something meaningful for their community. We design and operate immersive, indoor experiences that encourage families, couples, and multiple generations to connect through play and discovery. Our offerings include seasonal adventures like the Christmas Eye Spy Adventure and Not-So-Spooky Haunted House, along with family-friendly escape rooms—each designed to be welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable for guests of all ages and abilities.

What made you want to do this work?

This work started very close to home. Years ago, our family began creating small seasonal experiences simply to bring joy to friends, neighbours, and local families. Over time, we saw how meaningful those moments became—especially for people who needed outings that were comfortable, inclusive, and accessible. After the pandemic and several years of challenges for small businesses, we decided to take a leap and build something more permanent in Calgary: a place where people of all ages and abilities could connect, play, and feel welcome. What drives us is creating shared experiences that spark joy and belonging, with accessibility at the heart of every design decision.

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

We wanted to solve a gap we saw in family entertainment—there were very few experiences that were truly welcoming to everyone in one group. Many outings unintentionally exclude grandparents, people with mobility challenges, young children, or families looking for something indoors and weather-proof. We also noticed that many holiday attractions were passive rather than interactive. Quest World was created to offer a comfortable, fully accessible space where people of all ages and abilities could participate together, engage their minds, and create shared memories—especially during seasons when connection matters most.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

Our clientele is intentionally broad and multi-generational. We welcome families with young children, teens, parents, and grandparents, as well as couples, friend groups, and community organizations. Accessibility is core to what we do, so we also see many guests who use wheelchairs, walkers, or scooters, along with caregivers who can participate alongside them. We’re especially proud to serve families, seniors, school groups, and organizations supporting individuals with disabilities—anyone looking for a warm, inclusive, indoor experience they can enjoy together.

How does your business make money? How does it work?

Quest World generates revenue primarily through admission to our experiences, including our seasonal adventures and family-friendly escape rooms. Guests can visit independently, as families, or as part of group bookings such as schools, seniors’ groups, and community organizations.

The experience itself is simple and flexible—guests arrive, choose their adventure, and move through the space at their own pace, engaging with interactive challenges designed for different ages and abilities. This allows us to keep the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming, while operating sustainably as a small, family-run business rooted in the Calgary community.

Where in the city can we find your profession?

Quest World Family Entertainment can be found at Unit 4, 2010 30 Ave NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 4K9

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.

Question: “Will everyone in my group be able to fully participate and enjoy this experience together?”

Answer: At Quest World, the answer is yes. Everything we design—our layout, pacing, challenges, and seasonal experiences—is intentionally created to be accessible, inclusive, and engaging for a wide range of ages and abilities. Our goal is that no one feels rushed, left out, or unable to take part, so families, friends, and multi-generational groups can truly share the experience from start to finish.

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

The best part of what we do is watching people connect. Seeing kids, parents, grandparents, and guests of all abilities laughing, problem-solving, and experiencing something together reminds us why we started. When families tell us it’s one of the few outings where everyone could participate comfortably, it reinforces that this work truly matters.

The hardest part is building something new as a small, family-run business—balancing costs, accessibility, and sustainability isn’t easy. That said, every challenge pushes us to be more creative and intentional, and knowing we’re building something meaningful for our community makes even the tough moments worthwhile.

What is your favourite joke about your own profession?

“People think working in holiday entertainment means we’re surrounded by nonstop magic. The joke is that it also means we’re constantly hunting for missing props, untangling lights, and making sure the elves are on schedule—so everyone else gets to enjoy the magic stress-free.” 🎄✨
