What is your business called and what does it do?

My business is called Motivated in Motion, and we offer coaching services focused on running and mental resilience. We provide personalized coaching for athletes of all levels, guiding them to achieve their running goals while fostering a healthy mindset to overcome obstacles.

What made you want to do this work?

I’ve always been passionate about running, but it was my own journey with anxiety and depression that truly inspired me to pursue coaching. After struggling with mental health, I rediscovered the joy of running and realized that combining physical training with mindset coaching could have a powerful impact on others.

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

I wanted to help people overcome mental barriers that prevent them from achieving their goals, especially those related to running. Many athletes struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, and motivation, and I wanted to create a supportive environment where they can reconnect with their passion and achieve personal growth.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

My clients range from beginners to experienced athletes, with a focus on people looking to build both physical endurance and mental resilience. They come from all walks of life, but many are dealing with challenges like anxiety, depression, or self-doubt, and are looking for a coach who understands both the mental and physical sides of training.

How does your business make money? How does it work?

Motivated in Motion operates on a subscription-based coaching model. Clients can choose between personalized 1:1 coaching sessions or group coaching programs. We offer a variety of services, including running plans, mindset coaching, and virtual community runs. Clients pay monthly for coaching, and I also offer specialized packages for events and goal-specific training.

Where in the city can we find your profession?

I’m based in Calgary and work with athletes locally for in-person coaching, but most of my clients are supported virtually from anywhere. I also host group runs and events around Calgary, including community runs and fundraisers.

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.

The best question is: “How do you integrate mental resilience and mindset into your coaching?” The answer: I focus on both the physical and mental aspects of training. While running plans are key, I believe that having the right mindset is crucial for pushing through obstacles and achieving long-term goals. I incorporate mindfulness, stress management, and goal-setting into every program.

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

The best part is seeing my athletes grow, not just in their physical fitness, but also in their mental strength. Watching someone overcome a mental hurdle or achieve a personal best is incredibly rewarding. The hardest part is when clients face setbacks due to injuries or life circumstances, but it’s also an opportunity to work together on building resilience.

What is your favourite joke about your own profession?

“Why did the runner bring a ladder to the race? Because they wanted to take their training to the next level!” 😂
