Born and raised in British Columbia, Jennifer Patzer has called Calgary home for the past 22 years. With over three decades of experience as a hairstylist, she has always been fuelled by creativity, whether expressed through styling, singing, or painting throughout the years.
During the pandemic, with more time on our hands, our son was inspired by a video of pour painting and wanted to try it. Together with both our kids, they spent many hours creating fluid art. With this as the spark of inspiration, Jennifer decided to pick up the paintbrush again and continue to create a unique style of her own. Her paintings are modern and dynamic abstracts with graffiti influences. The pieces she creates are bold & colourful and convey a sense of movement and spontaneity. Jennifer’s goal is to evoke joy and inspire creativity in those who view her work.

What ‘hood are you in?
I live in the inner-city neighbourhood of Glendale.
What do you do?
I’ve been a hairstylist for over 30 years and since having our kids, I work part-time. In the last couple of years, as our kids have become older, I’ve been able to spend more hours painting. After trying many different painting styles, I’m drawn to creating bold and colourful paintings with an urban influence.
What are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on a medium-sized graffiti-style painting and varnishing a few paintings that I’ve recently finished.
Where can we find your work?
Some of my larger pieces will be installed at Vintage Caffeine in West Hillhurst from Dec 11-31. Enjoy a coffee and take a peek at some of these statement pieces. My work can also be found on my website and Instagram.
