“A Day in the Life” with: Calgary Visual Artist Anne Toth

Calgary-based artist Anne Toth began her love of the arts at a young age in Winnipeg. In school, her favourite subject was art. This passion has continued throughout her life to hone her talent. Since moving to Calgary and raising a family, Anne has taken great pleasure in many of the arts, including crafts, sewing, design and creation, painting and writing poetry.

Anne began painting with watercolour and genuinely enjoyed the transparency and fluidity offered by the medium. With the benefit of classes and workshops led by well-known, accomplished artists, she developed her own unique style. Anne’s evolution has led her to venture from Watercolours into stunning Acrylics.

Garden delights inspire her paintings of breathtaking flowers, birds and butterflies that she has witnessed or photographed throughout her world travels. She often writes poems inspired by the work, which she attaches to the back of the painting.

Anne’s art leans toward showing great attention to detail, very careful and precise. While capturing the beauty and essence of the subject, her pieces range from up close floral to landscape. The depth results in breathtaking, vibrant work.

Anne’s commitment to artistic growth has manifested into being an active member of the Calgary Sketch and Painting Club, currently holding a position on the Executive Board.
