Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions Opens First Calgary Location

Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions is a mouthful of a name for a Vancouver institution. I use the word “institution” intentionally. Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions is more than a bar, more than a restaurant. It is at once a bar, a restaurant, and also a thrift store.

And now, just four years after opening in Vancouver, Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions has brought all that they are to Calgary. As of July 30, 2026, the second Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions location opened their doors. You’ll find them at 1207 1st St SW, in the heart of Calgary’s Beltline.

Mount Pleasant Meets Beltline

The Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions team deliberately chose Calgary as their first venture beyond Vancouver. In general, Calgary has a vibrant and dynamic hospitality scene, but the Beltline neighbourhood in particular mirrors the surroundings of the original in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant. The Beltline, like Mount Pleasant, is walkable and the local community is passionate and interconnected.

Capturing the magic of Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions was a challenge. The space just off Main Street is partly a heritage house built in the early 1900s that is jammed up against a glossy new build. The new building provides needed space, but the house gives Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions its undeniable nostalgia. This mishmash of a space affords them not just one but two patios, which are decorated with bold and bright murals.

Indoor/Outdoor, Vintage, And Provisions

The branding of Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions is built on their retro, funky, vintage interior touches as much as their immediately recognizable exterior in Vancouver. Not only can you buy a lamp off the wall or a set of Tupperware along with your dinner and drinks, but Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions also offers their own merchandise as well.

The Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions team has done a remarkable job in not replicating but matching the original energy of the Vancouver location. There are many recognizable elements, from the wooden layered seating to the outdoor space and even the wooden shingles. I was particularly pleased to see the walls decorated with their sailor-style tattoo-inspired murals.

Sip, Sip, Hooray

Of course, it wouldn’t be Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions without a selection of exceptional and creative cocktails. In charge of the cocktail side for Calgary is Bar Manager Beau Lynch. He and his team will devote themselves with the same level of dedicated obsession that landed Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions at No 91 on the list of North America’s Best Bars 2026.

For example, you’ll find their signature boozy slushies on the drinks menu. The Cadillac Mezcalita is my long-time favourite. Although there’s also the Frozen Vietnamese Coffee, which is made with St Remy Brandy, Kahlua, and West End Robusta Coffee.

Another favourite of mine is the Shiso Fancy. “Shi” comes with Patron Silver Tequila and apricot liqueur as well as clarified Greek yogurt and, of course, shiso.

Fire-Grilled Favourites

The food menu is familiar too. The central theme of Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions’ menu is their live-fire grill. It’s why you’ll find so many food items that have been kissed with flame. Think Crackling Lechon Kawali, Roasted Potatoes, Flame-Seared Prawns, tender steak, or their juicy Backyard Barbecued Burger.

They’ve also brought their Costlo Happy Hour menu with them to Calgary. Costlo includes classics like their Tater Tots and Cheese Sauce as well as their simple but delicious cheeseburger and the Beef Tartare. My hot tip is to get the taters and the tartare and put the cold chopped beef on the hot tot. It’s a delicious and kind of decadently depraved bite. A dish that also represents a high/low culture clash is the Caviar & Chips. Pair classic Ruffles with Lumpfish (or Sturgeon) caviar as well as a house-made French Onion Dip. Sure, Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions is a little raunchy and retro, but their standards for food and cocktails are high.

Leading the kitchen team in Calgary is Head Chef Richard McLaren. And what I love about this new Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions is that the team kept what works and decided to bring all of those elements with them. There’s no twist on the concept, no dilution of the original idea. Calgarians are getting the very same vibe, food, drinks, and atmosphere that Vancouverites have enjoyed.

As the signs by the front doors of each location note, “This is not a cult.” However, be forewarned. Fans do tend to develop strong feels for this neighbourhood bar/restaurant/thrift store.
