What is your business called and what does it do?

Vernaza Design is a family-owned interior design firm located in Calgary. We specialize in creating spaces that are not only aesthetically beautiful but functional and also incorporate design solutions, promoting holistic wellness and harmony.

What made you want to do this work?

Our passion for nature and wellness fuels our creative journey. We believe that our surroundings profoundly impact our well-being, and we are dedicated to crafting spaces that enrich lives and foster a profound sense of tranquility and balance. After being a stay at home mother and experiencing several jobs in makeup artistry, cosmetology and interior design service providers I decided to go back to school and earn my full bachelor degree from De Montfort University and the National Design Academy, UK, and launch Vernaza Design in 2024

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

We aim to address the need for interior spaces that not only look beautiful but also promote wellness and harmony. Our goal is to create environments that nurture both the body and the soul, enriching the lives of our clients.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

Our clientele consists of individuals and families who value wellness, sustainability, and mindful living. We work closely with clients who seek to transform their spaces into havens of beauty, comfort, and well-being.

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.

Prospective customers may ask, “How do you incorporate wellness practices into your designs?” Our answer would be: We prioritize wellness and harmony in all aspects of our work, from selecting eco-friendly materials to implementing natural and wellness solutions that enhance your body, mind and soul. We strive to minimize environmental impact while creating beautiful and functional spaces.

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

The best part of what we do is seeing the joy and satisfaction on our clients’ faces when they see their vision come to life. The worst part is the occasional challenges and setbacks that arise during the design and construction process, but overcoming them only strengthens our commitment to excellence.

What is your favourite joke about your own profession?

My house isn’t messy – it was interior designed by a 3-year-old!
