Steamed Garlic Prawns

Serving: 1 to 2 Servings
Total Time: 20 Minutes

Ingredients:

  • 8 large prawns
  • 30g vermicelli
  • Hot water
  • 3 tbsp Mazola® Canola Oil
  • 6 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tbsp softened unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Finely chopped green onion
  • Finely chopped cilantro

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, soak the vermicelli in hot water for 10 mins until softened. Drain and place on a steaming plate. Mix with a little oil and a little water to prevent vermicelli from sticking to the plate and for it to cook faster.
  2. Prepare the prawns by cutting off the rostrum, antennules, antennas, and pereopods. Devein and butterfly the prawns.
  3. In a small pan with 1 tbsp heat Mazola® Canola Oil over medium heat, sauté the garlic until golden. Set aside.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the butter, salt, sautéed garlic, green onion, and cilantro.
  5. Spread the garlic butter on the shrimps.
  6. Layer the shrimps on top of the vermicelli.
  7. When water boils, steam for 5 minutes over high heat.
  8. Remove, and pour 2 tbsp heated oil on top of the shrimps for extra flavour. Enjoy!
