Osyron is a Canadian metal band known for its dynamic blend of powerful lyrics, intricate melodies, and soaring clean vocals, balanced with contrasting vocal styles. Originally formed in 2012, the band’s current lineup features vocalist Reed Alton, guitarists Krzysztof Stalmach and Bobby Harley, bassist Tyler Corbett, and drummer Cody Anstey.
Their latest album, Momentous (released November 2022), achieved global recognition, with three of its four singles—”Dominion Day,” “Beyond the Sun,” and “Anunnaki”—featured on Spotify’s All New Metal playlist for over four weeks. Another standout single, “The Deafening,” featuring Stu Block (Iced Earth, Annihilator, Into Eternity) and Percival Schuttenbach (The Witcher 3 OST), has been widely praised by both fans and media. Momentous has surpassed 174,000 Spotify streams to date and earned Osyron a nomination for Metal Band of the Year at the 2023 Western Canadian Music Awards.
Osyron has shared the stage with some of metal’s biggest names, including Nightwish, Insomnium, Evergrey, Dark Tranquillity, Kamelot, Dragonforce, Amorphis, Kreator, Destruction, and Hypocrisy, highlighted by their performance on 70,000 Tons of Metal.
Their electrifying metal rendition of “O Canada” was licensed for a Destination Canada ski video, which aired before all screenings of Warren Miller’s 2021 film Winter Starts Now. In 2021, they also received the prestigious FACTOR Canada Juried Sound Recording grant.
In 2023, Osyron made their European festival debut at Rock Castle in Czechia, performing alongside HammerFall, Amaranthe, U.D.O., Alestorm, Beast in Black, and DORO. That same year, they brought their signature sound across North America on a 16-date tour supporting Seven Kingdoms.
Continuing their international ascent, Osyron returned to Europe in 2024 for a six-date tour, bookended by festival appearances where they shared the stage with legends like Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson, Avantasia, and Accept at Masters of Rock in Czechia.
Currently, Osyron is immersed in the writing and recording process for their next release, slated for completion in 2025/26.

Favourite musician growing up:
We loved (still love) bands like Dream Theater, Lamb of God, Iron Maiden, Gojira, Metallica, Judas Priest, Testament, Symphony X, In Flames and many other influences of ours.
Favourite musician now:
Our friends in Seven Kingdoms, Striker, Unleash the Archers and Borealis are all great bands and people!
Guilty pleasure song:
May It Be
Live show ritual:
Nothing crazy! We’ve all been doing this for some time, so we usually just do a huddle before our walk-on and make sure everyone is amped up to play. After the show, our favourite thing to do is hang out with fans and have many beers. Many.
Favourite local musician:
Hazzerd is pretty cute.
EP or LP?
Writing our music is a group effort in the band with everyone contributing, so we always have plenty of material. For this reason, it usually makes more sense for us to release full-length albums.
Early bird or night owl?
Depends on who you are asking. Most of us are early risers and like to get stuff done in the morning. That said, we definitely don’t mind the late nights playing shows or being out on the road. Our drummer Cody is the oddball – He’s up all hours of the night and doesn’t even respond to messages or show up until after 1 pm.
Road or studio?
We’ve all spent a ton of time in the studio in recent years, having released 3 studio albums and a lot of singles and covers over the last 4-5 years. So, because of that, we probably have to go with being on the road. We’ve had the privilege to travel to and perform in a lot of different places on tour in the last couple of years, and always had an absolute blast. We can’t wait to do some more touring on our next album cycle.
Further to that, Reed, Tyler, and Cody are all involved professionally in the studio world, working at studios producing, recording, and mixing albums for other artists as well. You can check out their work at Crooks Hollow Studio, Sole Audio and Clarity Recording & Mixing.

Rapid Fire Local Questions:
What is your favourite local restaurant?
Denny’s. Always after a show. Every. Single. Time.
What is your favourite street in your city and why?
17th Ave, for many late night/brunch… Reasons unknown!
What is your favourite park in your city and why?
Nose Hill because it’s shaped like Reed’s head and it makes him feel important. But we will throw in Banff National Park because we are lucky to live close to the mountains and because we can.
What is your favourite music venue in your city?
Probably have to go with Dickens for this one – They have always been big supporters of what we are doing as a band. The service, brews, and food are also great.
What is your favourite music store in your city?
In Calgary, we really only have Long & McQuade and Guitarworks as your typical big-box music retailers. That said, We like to support local businesses whenever possible. Here’s some notable mentions:
There’s a really awesome boutique drum shop in South Calgary called We Got The Beat, run by the ex-owner of AXE Music. There’s also Guitar Repair Shack, where you can find really awesome boutique guitar gear, and get your axe fixed if you sit on it.
