Homegrown Business: Sue Nguyen of vitaminboba

Calgary’s cutest little boba shop vitaminboba serves fresh and delicious bubble tea as well as adorable gifts. They’ve got everything from bubble tea travel mugs, totes, plushies, and even a boba cat bed. Founder Sue Nguyen was pursuing a career in architecture, but the entrepreneurial urge was too strong to resist, so she decided to take her savings and start vitaminboba. Now her little boba business has two locations. We spoke to Sue to learn more.

What is your business called and what does it do?

vitaminboba- we elevate bubble tea experience for people with our creative drinks and unique merchandise.

What made you want to do this work?

I wanted to do this work to bring people an extraordinary bubble tea experience.

What problem did you want to solve with your business?

The lack of elevated local bubble tea brands within the Canadian market.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

Anyone who loves a good bubble tea.

How does your business make money? How does it work?

We sell drinks and merchandise at our 2 locations in Calgary.

Our 2 locations: Montgomery 4537 Bowness Road NW, and Kensington 130 10thst NW

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

The best part is when I get to see people enjoy my drinks, and the worst is when my machines decide to have a breakdown in the middle of the rush.

What is your favourite joke about your own profession?

Why don’t bubble teas gossip? Because they don’t want to spill the tea.
