Homegrown Business: Chantal Cote of Pyramid Psychology

Pyramid Psychology is a Calgary-based business dedicated to helping teen girls build confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being through coaching, therapy, and group programs. We spoke with Chantal Côté, founder of Pyramid Psychology and a teen life coach and psychologist, to learn more about her mission to support 100,000 teen girls in developing strong mindsets and self-acceptance.

Pyramid Psychology

What is your business called and what does it do?

My business is called Pyramid Psychology, and we are on a mission to support 100 000 teen girls develop confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being. Through 1:1 coaching, therapy, and group programs like THP (The Happiness Pill), and digital resources like The Resilient Teen Blueprint course, we provide tools and strategies to help teens manage stress, navigate social situations, and feel more engaged in their lives.

What made you want to do this work?

As a teen, I was quiet and socially anxious, often shrinking away when teased about my curly hair and fair skin. I judged myself for being “weird” and awkward, even though my creativity and imagination were actually my superpowers. Looking back, I wish I’d had a safe space to embrace my uniqueness.

Now, I have the great privilege of co-creating that space with teen girls and an amazing team. Helping teens celebrate who they are, build confidence, and appreciate their strengths while planting seeds of self-acceptance and empowerment continues to fuel my passion each day.

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

Teens today are more anxious and overwhelmed than ever. Social pressures, academic stress, and self-doubt can make it hard for them to thrive. I wanted to co-create a safe, supportive space where they can build confidence, develop resilience, and learn how to manage life’s challenges without feeling alone. To see them step into their greatness and live according to what matters most to them.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

We primarily work with girls and young women (ages 11-21) who struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, and social pressures. We also provide resources for parents who want to better support their teens. Our services are available in person in Calgary and online for teens worldwide.

How does your business make money? How does it work?

We offer private coaching, therapy, group programs, and digital resources. Parents invest in their teen’s well-being by enrolling them in programs like THP or 1:1 supports. We also have other resources like our WhatsApp-based subscription support service where teens can get ongoing guidance between sessions.

Where in the city can we find your profession?

We run our practice online and in-person out of southeast Calgary.

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services?

“How do you help teens actually apply what they learn in real life?”

We focus on personalized, real-world strategies rather than just theoretical advice. Teens in our programs don’t just talk about confidence—they practice it in ways that work for them, just a little stretch outside their comfort zone and some creativity. We co-create ideas through guided exercises, real-life challenges, and personalized support.

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

Best part: Watching a teen go from doubting themselves to saying and showing, “I got this.” Seeing that shift in their confidence is a priceless witnessing.

Worst part: Knowing that not every teen gets the support they need. Mental health resources can be inaccessible at times. That’s why we offer a ton of value-packed, free resources in our newsletter community.

What is your favourite joke about your own profession?

How many therapists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Just one- but the lightbulb has to be willing to change.
