Peace Candle Co.

What is your business called and what does it do?

Peace Candle Co., I made 100% natural soy wax candles, scented with essential oils.

What made you want to do this work?

I have struggled for years with getting headaches from synthetic fragrances and wanted to see if I could come up with a solution to be able to enjoy my favourite candles without getting headaches from them.

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

I wanted to be able to provide a natural solution for those who love candles.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

Everyone, all ages. Companies for employee & client gifting. Gift basket companies.

How does your business make money?

I sell the candles in person at markets, online on my website and via social media.

Where in the city can we find your profession?

I am a home-based business in Calgary, on the north end of the city.

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.

What makes your candles different from others?

My candles are made from 100% natural soy wax. I make sure there are no additives in the wax, as many waxes have additives, and you really have to watch what you buy! I scent the candles with certified organic pure essential oils. This is important because many other candle companies claim to be natural, but they use synthetic fragrances or fragrance oils, which are actually chemically derived and not 100% natural, plant-based oils. I use a natural cotton wick, and they come in a reusable glass jar. I also make my candles in small batches, all by hand, by myself, to ensure the best quality and consistency in every one.

What is the best part about what you do?

I love being able to create and share a completely natural, high-quality candle for those who love candles. I also make my candles affordable and do not overprice them so that everyone can afford to enjoy them.

What is the worst part?

The people who compare my products to other cheap, synthetic candles and make comments they think I don’t hear or notice.

What is your favourite joke about your own profession?

Why did the candle go to school? Because it wanted to be a little brighter.
