Kamala Parel-Nuttall is a passionate filmmaker who always takes the opportunity to meet new people and learn about different human experiences. Her projects range from local community impact stories to big societal issues. She feels comfortable in the most diverse places, and wants to introduce the world to the characters she films. Kamala is currently producing a feature doc about two female Afghan athletes rebuilding their lives as refugees while chasing their dreams of qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics. She is also directing Gandhi’s Threads, a feature doc about a designer in Mumbai who is using fashion to challenge the Indian caste system, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi.
When she’s not producing, directing or writing, Kamala can be found skiing and biking the mountains of British Columbia. She is a confident, thoughtful and adaptable person who loves spending time outdoors with her family, friends and dogs.
