Jarret Twoyoungmen is a storyteller and filmmaker whose passion lies in improving the lives of Indigenous youth through language and culture. He co-founded the Nakoda AV Club, a collective of artists based on the reserve at Mînî Thnî (Morley, Alberta), which has been creating and sharing stories together for more than a decade. As a director for the Club, Jarret plays a key role in connecting youth with Elders and helping to tell stories in traditional ways. His first language is Îethka (Stoney Nakoda). With the collective, he has created films that have screened at VIFF, ImagineNATIVE, and Māoriland. Jarret is also the Director of Photography for the 13-part documentary series HORSE WARRIORS, premiering September 4 on APTN.

Which ’hood are you in?
I am located in Calgary.
What do you do?
I am a Writer, Director, Camera Operator, Photographer, and LX (Lighting/Electrics) on movie sets. I also play extras in films and mentor youth on how to create short films.
What are you currently working on?
I’m working on two projects: a horror-punk film and a drama about a drum group. Both will feature Stoney Nakoda language and storytelling.
