NOYAN is a Pakistani artist/ producer based out of Calgary, Canada. Influenced by modern Trap and R&B, NOYAN focuses on the fusion of the two genres with the Pakistani and Indian sub-genres of the same categories. With an early interest in music, NOYAN would receive various musical instruments, per his request, on birthdays and would later teach himself to loosely play these instruments. During his high-school year’s he wrote loose raps on scrap paper and freestyle’d occasionally with friends. It was during this time that he was introduced to Fl Studio, a music production software. It wasn’t until 2019 that he started taking music seriously and started making full beats in Fl Studio. In 2020, he would record and release his first-ever song, “3:30 in a Benz,” with fellow artist Obsinema under the collaborative Sandstone City. Focusing on more solo work now, NOYAN plans to further break barriers in music and fuse multiple genres together through his production and vocal melodies.

Favourite musician growing up:
Ahh, I’m a nerd, I can’t pick one so – MGMT, Kanye, Daft Punk, All American Rejects, Eminem, Linkin Park, Aerosmith… I could go on forever.
Favourite musician now:
Travis Scott, Weeknd, Drake.
Guilty pleasure song:
Nelly Furtado – All good things (Come to an end).
Live show ritual:
Mentally visualizing myself on stage to get myself psyched. Visualizing the crowd, their response, where I’m gonna be standing, etc. This is followed by a lot of jumping and moving around to get the blood flowing and to get rid of the jitters while I’m making my way to the stage. A quick chug of water and dapping up my team before hitting the stage.
Favourite local musician:
Oh man, there’s too many that I got so much love for. Obsinema, Kuzi, Kam, 86love, 13 Jaap, Lotus, I could go on forever.
EP or LP?
Definitely LP but only from artists that know how to curate the sonics, subjects, vibes, and energy that go into a full-length album. Albums like Rodeo, Good kid, maad city, Dark fantasy by ye, etc.
Early bird or night owl?
Night owl.
Road or studio?
I’m a homebody, so studio.
Any shows or albums coming up?
I have a song out called “AIRPLANE MODE” with my brother, 13 Jaap, and it’s a banger.

Rapid Fire Local Questions:
What is your favourite local restaurant?
Modern Steak. Hands down best steak.
What is your favourite street in your city and why?
Arbour Lake Dr, because I have so many memories as a kid hanging out after school, running from popo, skateboarding, doing stupid stuff to impress girls, etc. My whole childhood was spent there engaging in tomfoolery.
What is your favourite park in your city and why?
Canada Olympic Park, because I love snowboarding there and because it’s historic, obviously.
What is your favourite music venue in your city?
I would say Winsport because that was the first time I opened up for the legendary Atif Aslam in front of over 3,000 people. The stage was incredible, the screens, the sound system, everything was next level.
What is your favourite music store in your city?
Ahh, there was this place in Market Mall before Sunrise Records. I forgot what it was called, but I bought countless CDs and vinyls from there when I was younger. I had mad stacks of old Snoop Dogg CDs, 2pac, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Nirvana, etc.
