“I do like chicken, but I don’t like chicken”—a simple sentence uttered by Elizabeth Tobin as a child while standing on her chair at the dinner table, waffling about her feelings of said chicken. It slowly and delightfully morphed into more of a chant as she repeated the words over and over, eyes closed, dancing to her own trance-like performance. Her dad, brother and I were all mesmerized by this spontaneous “bit” that turned our ordinary family meal into a veritable dinner show.
My daughter, Elizabeth didn’t have to work at making us notice, didn’t have to stretch for a laugh when performing. She just “became that something”. Her true nature, her natural delivery; something about Lizzy just being Lizzy made her audience notice and made us all believe that at that precise moment, she was that character.
Being raised in Grand Canyon National Park, Lizzy was not only active in theatre and dance but was also an avid hiker. Now a mother of two in Calgary, she passes on her joy for life through her parenting as well as her work, which includes spots in several commercials, short films, and most recently a lead role in a feature film.

Which neighbourhood are you in?
I live in Parkhill – a little hidden gem in Calgary, just a few streets of cute houses and lovely people. A short walk from my favourite running paths along the Elbow River. I grew up at the Grand Canyon in Arizona and ended up moving to Calgary in 2014 after meeting my husband at a hockey game, but that’s a story for another time!
What do you do?
I’m an actress and a mom to two little girls. I have a degree in business and worked in the Finance industry for several years before deciding to do a complete 180 and chase my childhood dreams. I was fortunate enough to sign with a great agent Keslea, at Details Talent whose guidance has led to some pretty extraordinary Commercial, TV and Film jobs over the last 2 years. It’s been incredibly inspiring and humbling to see first-hand how much dedication, talent, hard work and passion it takes from ALL members of a film crew to create beautiful art and I feel lucky to be a part of it every time I step on set.
What are you currently working on?
As an actress you’re always working, auditioning (and hoping) for the next job. So while I don’t have anything currently booked I keep my acting muscles content with classes at the Company of Rogues – my favourite studio in the city. I’m writing my first screenplay for a short film that is very near and dear to my heart while patiently waiting on a few fun projects to be released in 2025!
