Michelle Ku and I met on the Internet, a few days before we actually met in person in a local ramen restaurant. I’ve been getting to know her over the past few years, as a friend and long-distance collaborator (I live in Toronto). Of course, Michelle has a wonderfully genius and magic hand when it comes to making art, but more importantly, she’s a truly cool person. Michelle drives her granddad’s car that has a button glued to the rear passenger-seat lock, makes comics with her younger brother and loves cows. When Michelle is painting a mural, all the people in her life show up to support her, which is a true sign of love. If you walk around her apartment, you will stumble across many excellent uses of her sticker collection as an accent feature (behind doors, lining a floor-length mirror, pressed onto a napkin holder). Michelle knows the importance of taking her time, taking a rest, and singing along to Chappell Roan. PS: Do not tailgate her!

Which ’hood are you in?
I grew up in Edgemont, right now I live in Heritage.
What do you do?
I’m an independent artist creating paintings, animations, illustrations and occasionally murals. I also sell prints and merch in my online shop and at conventions.
What are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on a mural as part of the BUMP Festival and also preparing for my next convention, Anime NYC.
