Art and passion for the creative process have been constants for Cecile Albi throughout her life. From her early years in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she expressed a love for colour and form on paper and canvas. Completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1987 and a diploma in Advertising Art in 1991, she then moved to Calgary, Alberta, entering a graphic design career. Amidst professional success, her devotion to fine art endured. In 2014, Cecile transitioned to painting full time, crafting a portfolio that embodies a unique style she calls ‘Refractionism’, which aims to captivate the beauty of nature through light refracting and impressionism. She embraces painting as a sentient experience, allowing all her senses to express themselves. Her acrylic and oil canvas paintings seek to convey beauty in a multi-sensory fashion, providing a complete visual, emotional, and tactile experience. Whether exploring abstract impressionism in large or small canvases, Cecile’s primary focus remains on the vibrant expression of beauty in her subjects.
