Five Minutes With: Calgary Singer-Songwriter Kenny Jeon

Kenny Jeon is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Calgary, Alberta. His music can be best described as soulful with blues/contemporary elements and a touch of R&B. Kenny has been singing since he was a kid and picked up the guitar while in high school. It wasn’t until he began university that he started taking songwriting more seriously. Aside from vocals and guitar, he also plays bass, drums, piano and a few other miscellaneous instruments. Kenny was a nominee for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year for the 2024 YYC Music Awards. His biggest musical influence is John Mayer, whose signature sound is prominent in his music. He also takes inspiration from both new and old ballad singers like Jukjae, Lee Moon Sae, and Kim Jang Hoon for his Korean songs.
