Five Minutes With: Calgary Hip-Hop Artist Chills

Chills is a Calgary-based artist who blends hip hop, pop, and electronic sounds with a dark tone shaped by his online presence. Known for his monotone voice, he writes and produces music that reflects identity, loss, and personal growth. He has worked with RIAA platinum artists, including Trippie Redd on Dallas and CORPSE on Siren Head. Outside of music, he runs two YouTube channels with a combined 10 million subscribers and billions of views, yet music stays at the center of his life. As a proud Indigenous artist from the Pine Creek First Nation, he supports Calgary charities each year and aims to make space for future Indigenous artists.

Any shows or albums coming up?

My new album SAWISKERA released on December 5. It’s inspired by Haudenosaunee storytelling about twin brothers who bring light and shadow. I’ve always connected with Sawiskera, the brother tied to the night, and the album digs into that theme. The sound leans cinematic with darker emotion and honest self-reflection, and it’s my most personal work so far.
