Singles Apparel

What is your business called and what does it do?

Singles Apparel. Our apparel company was created to support and encourage real-time, real-life exchanges for those who are single and looking. We believe there are amazing single people in this world living behind their screens, some of which may be tired of the online dating scene. Our intention is to provide a medium that encourages face-to-face hellos with a simple phrase like “Nice Hat/Toque” to initiate conversation. Whether out hiking, at a pub, grocery store, or walking the dog, our company was born to help connect like-minded individuals in a more natural way. We dream that our brand will become the staple symbol for those who are single and looking. “Be creative, be friendly, be yourself!”

What made you want to do this work?

The online dating scene has become very artificial as people are able to be whoever they want to be online. Having the ability to identify other singles in a real, natural environment is what jump-started Singles Apparel and an alternative to online dating. The idea was born out in the mountains where we spend most of our spare time, we thought – what if there was a way to identify other like-minded enthusiasts that are single and open to a conversation.

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

Being able to connect naturally with other like minded individuals while out doing the things we love and provide an alternative to online dating.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

Anyone and everyone, we are inclusive to all demographics.

How does your business make money? How does it work?

Apparel sales. Our initial line of apparel include different styles of “nice hats” and “nice toques”. When you wear the apparel and notice a nice hat/nice toque, it represents an opportunity, if you so choose, to introduce yourself.

Where in Calgary can we find your profession?

We are located online at nice-hat.ca and in the following stores:

Adesso Man (Calgary)

Switching Gear YYC (Calgary)

Little Brick Cafe & General Store (Edmonton)

Bode Spa (Ottawa)

Bode Spa (Toronto)

We also have several partners that offer discounts when wearing our apparel (great date locations!)

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

We love hearing success stories and seeing our product out on the streets…it keeps us motivated as we want the world to know there is an alternative to the online dating scene!

PAY IT FORWARD: What is another local business that you love?

We have several partnerships that offer discounts to people wearing our apparel. At the same time, it gives us an opportunity to promote their businesses as well. A win-win for both parties.
