Lorna James brings energy and a can-do spirit to anything she pursues. With over 25 years of professional and creative writing experience, she has a passion for authentic storytelling and the connections it creates.
Her career in the industry began ten years ago when she bootstrapped her first production after pitching the concept in a parking lot. Bringing years of corporate and entrepreneurial experience with her, she never looked back.
Since then, Lorna has built a solid foundation and intends to keep growing. Some highlights: She was named a Rosie Award Nominee Finalist as producer of the children’s series Hey, Kujo!, production coordinated then locally production managed for Indigenous Day Live in Calgary, worked as Fixer (twice!) for Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, worked on over 60 productions, and is the production manager for the docuseries Horse Warriors on APTN.
Known for her ability to get things done, Lorna approaches everything with enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and genuine love for people.
Outside of production, she enjoys spending time near the water, photography, scenic hiking, football, exploring historic architecture and listening to music from classical to Lou Reed. She loves meaningful travel experiences where she can connect with the culture.

Which ’hood are you in?
Inner city, Calgary
What do you do?
I work as a production manager and fixer predominantly, although I wear different hats on different productions.
What are you currently working on?
Production Manager on the documentary series Horse Warriors, which airs on APTN.
Where can we find your work?
I can’t point to anything and say, “This is mine,” which is current or relevant to where I’m at, because right now my role is behind the scenes. I am profoundly grateful to work in an industry I love while supporting exceptional content creators and the production/post-production teams who bring their visions to life on screen.
