Which ’hood are you in?
Calgary, Alberta
What do you do?
I am a contemporary activist artist involved in installation, painting, poetry, digital painting, collage, and photography.
What are you currently working on?
I am currently working on the social change public art project called “My Pillow.” This contemporary installation series involves the exploration of multimedia elements such as body art, painting, photography, video, typography, digital art, and poetry. I have been dedicated to this project since 2021 and continue to engage in its development. I am exploring and experimenting with laser cut and CNC machine technologies to create three pillow sculptures illuminated with lights. The sculptures are being created in a maker space where I had an art residency in 2022.
Where can we find your work?
One of my pictures called “Remember, the spirit in you has no gender”, was selected for “The Artist Lens: Body”. This exhibition is part of the Exposure Photography Festival 2024, which runs in February in various venues throughout Alberta. You can find out more about Honey’s Pillow Project on Al-Tiba9 Contemporary Art, and also you can follow me on Instagram.
