Ford is one of those special pups who can match your energy – he’s just as happy curling up for couch time (especially if blankets are involved!) as he is heading out for an adventure.
At home, Ford is affectionate, relaxed, and well-mannered. He’s fully house-trained, loves to greet you at the door with a wagging tail, and hasn’t shown any destructive behaviours. When it’s time to play, his fun-loving side really shines – he absolutely loves fetch and will happily bring you his favourite ball to keep the game going.
Out and about, Ford is still learning how to navigate the world with confidence. He can become vocal and reactive when surprised by things like unfamiliar people, dogs or sudden movement, often showing this through barking and lunging. With guidance, Ford has already started learning new skills – he is very food motivated and is beginning to respond to redirection cues with treats and encouragement.
Ford is looking for a home that’s excited to continue helping him build these skills using positive reinforcement training. With consistency, structure and practice, he has great potential to become more confident and focused on his handler.
Like many young, playful dogs, Ford can get a little jumpy and mouthy when excited, especially during playtime. He’s learning to manage this and responds well to clear guidance and redirection.
Ford is a loving, playful, and deeply rewarding companion who will thrive in a home ready to support him, have fun with him, and continue his learning journey.
To help Ford and his family start life off on the right paw, Ford will receive three private consults and a session of Reactive Rover to support him.

About this column:
Each week we feature animals available for adoption from local shelters in the Calgary area with the hopes that our readers will assist in finding good homes for them.
