Blending multilingual wit with a sharp eye for everyday absurdities, Sukh Singh is a rising comedian bringing a fresh, cross-cultural perspective to stages across Canada. Originally from a small town in Punjab, Singh draws on his experiences navigating different cultures and languages—effortlessly weaving English, Punjabi, Hindi, and more into his material.

How would you describe your comedy style?
I would say I’m a witty comedian questioning the world with my unique perspective. My comedy transcends cultural boundaries as I fearlessly poke fun at life’s absurdities in different languages like English, Punjabi, Hindi & sometimes Gujarati. Coming from a small town in Panjab, I have always been a funny person and a jokester of the group. Now I find laughter in stuff that happens around me.
Who are some of your influences?
Some of my influences are Dave Chappelle, Harsh Gujral, Jaspreet Singh and Rahul Dua (Indian Comics), as I believe all these showcase the same idea, which is “being different can be fun too”.
Who was your favourite comedian growing up?
My Favourite comedians growing up was Gabriel Iglesias a.k.a. Fluffy and Kapil Sharma (An Indian Comic), and I still love them as they gave me the initial idea of what being a comedian is like.
Who is your favourite comedian now?
As of now, I love watching Bill Burr and Andrew Schulz. In my opinion, both are unhinged and outspoken.
What is your pre-show ritual?
Well, I don’t know if this is a ritual, but I usually don’t sit before going on the stage and keep talking to myself and assuring the show will go great. Also, every time before going on stage, I have a lil conversation with GOD. Oh, and I take a lot of piss.
What is your favourite place you have performed? Why?
One of my favourite places that I’ve performed is a sold-out Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, Edmonton. Reason being it was my very first time opening for Harsh Gujral, one of my comedy influences and that too in front of a sold-out 600-700 people room. That was first time I felt real chills while on stage.
What is your favourite bit you have written and why were you proud of it?
I have multiple bits that I’m proud of, but if I have to point one out, it’s a bit about me explaining how people look at me and assume stuff, then telling them a couple instances where this happened. And then explaining how assumptions about stuff you don’t know is okay, and then end the joke with a twist that makes people laugh and think at the same time. After this one, my new Favourite is my Solo show Bhaji Zone that I’ll be taking on tour across multiple cities in Canada starting from Saskatoon, May 15. This one is special as it’s for my Desi people in full Hindi/Punjabi vibe.
What is your favourite medium for listening or finding new comics/comedians?
I rely mostly on social media for finding new comics and for checking out new comics, I open my Instagram and check their profiles and then look for their YouTube pages and check if they are on any other platform.
Tell us a joke about your city.
One joke that I love doing about both Calgary and Edmonton is comparing their Hockey Teams and how one is better than another, which we all know every Albertan is so passionate about. Then bringing Red Deer into the mix, eventually bringing the whole crowd together coz no matter how much people in Calgary and Edmonton hate each other, they still unite on one thing, which is Red Deer sucks.
Do you have anything to promote right now?
I would love to promote my upcoming Comedy tour – Bhaji Zone. Starting May 15 in Saskatoon. This is my brand new solo show. An evening of unfiltered desi comedy in Hindi, Punjabi, or maybe your favourite language – from immigrant life struggles to cultural chaos, nothing is off limits.
Where can we follow you?
PAY IT FORWARD: Who is another local comic/comedian we should know about?
