“A Day in the Life” with: Calgary Visual Artist Scott Storey

Scott Storey received a mini watercolor paint kit as a present in 2020 and he had the idea to paint his photographs. After I saw his first attempt, I was blown away! Since then, his self-taught talent has continued to amaze everyone that surrounds him. I am always so excited to see the next piece that he paints. They are all so unique, colourful and full of life!

Which ‘hood are you in?

I’m currently living in Mission and moved to Calgary from the Yukon in April last year.

What do you do?

I actually work full-time as a plumber but creating art is what I aspire to do solely one day soon. I work exclusively with oil paints on canvas and create from as small as 16 x 20″ to 72″ x 36″…maybe I’ll go bigger one day!

What are you currently working on?

My newest piece is a 36 x 60″ portrait orientation of the stunning methane bubbles at Abraham Lake – Can’t wait to complete this one! I’ve never attempted this palette of icy blues in such a huge form.

Where can we find your work?

My website is the best, but I am also on Instagram, and Facebook and try to keep up with TikTok!
