“A Day in the Life” with: Performing Artist Grace Fedorchuk

Grace Fedorchuk is an actress, singer, foster dog mom, and Animal Crossing enthusiast. You’ve seen her across Calgary theatres and at Village Ice Cream when the new monthly flavours come out. She prefers to drink bubbly waters with metal straws and pretends to prefer tea over coffee.

Grace lies dormant in the cold winter and blooms in summer, when the time is right for backpacking trips to the mountains, patio beers, and gardening. She has grown nearly a dozen radishes. Her favourite flowers are tulips and gerbera daisies, though she really wants the golden roses in Animal Crossing.

She likes to play piano between bouts of Traitors and Emily in Paris. She has only seen the first two Lord of the Rings movies, but is planning to soon fix that. Her favourite thing is singing, despite not knowing the correct lyrics to any major songs.

A rehearsal picture of some BeautifulYoungArtists alongside the fabulous Denise Clarke, probably talking to us about how best to be precise, economical and relaxed on stage.

A photo of Grace and her partner, Max. After swearing to never date a fellow artist, Grace fell in love with Max, a playwright. Oh well.
Here is Loki, current foster puppy from ARF (Alberta Rescue Foundation). He’s a ball of energy and love, and he’s available for adoption! When there are breaks in the busy periods, it’s so nice to have a little snuggly creature to spend time with.
Grace spent a summer living in Rosebud, Alberta, while performing in Little Women. The cast would often get together for campfire songs and northern lights watching after the show.
A beautiful and rigorous escape from city life. Grace is with her friend Willa, backcountry hiking to Glacier Lake in Banff. A very chilly dip in the lake would occur later in the day.
Making perogies with family for the holidays. A delightful and delicious Ukrainian tradition. Food has always been the thing that makes Grace feel closest to her culture.

Which ’hood are you in?

Bridge La La Land is my home, and I never shut up about it. I love being able to walk downtown to the theatres, and sit on my balcony in the summer to people-watch.

What do you do?

I am an actor, singer, and performance artist. I work professionally as a creative in Calgary in the theatre and film industry.

What are you currently working on?

I’m working on creating a theatre production that’s all about joy. Ridiculous things that spark happiness in our lives. The team is diving into poetry, and music, and stories that capture beauty, and putting that on stage for everyone to revel in. Bright colours, wacky movement, and beautiful words are gonna banish the darkness and create vibrancy. It’s a delight to work on, and it’s going to be an even bigger delight to share it.

Where can we find your work?

Handy Devises for Existential Crisis is being produced by One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theatre. Come experience the joy in the Big Secret Theatre at Werklund Centre from May 13 to 16, 2026.
